Welcome

RDO challenges and enlightens public perception of older people through musical presentations performed by seasoned artists for audiences of all ages. RDO envisions a future where an individual’s perceived abilities are not defined by their numeric age.

Raison d’Être Opéra stands in solidarity with our community in resistance to the violent and illegal tactics of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. We acknowledge the grief, shock, and distress each day sadly brings, and realize our words cannot change or resolve any of these crises; but we offer the very real comfort and reassurance which can be found in making and sharing music together. We encourage peaceful protest, and suggest you join us in supporting organizations which provide shelter, food, and legal protection to those being targeted and harmed by this Administration.

With love and compassion,

The Board of Raison d’Être Opéra

All in Time

and Prelude to the Premiere

Join us for the world premiere of Paul John Rudoi's opera, All in Time, the touching story of deep and lasting relationships formed within a longtime community choir.

The "Prelude to the Premiere" features arias and choruses from 20th- and 21st-century operas that form the rich foundation upon which Rudoi has built All in Time, performed by members of the opera chorus.

That's Amore!

What do opera, operetta, and musical theater have in common? Storytelling.

And what type of stories are told most often in any genre, in any language? Love stories, naturally!

Join us on Valentine's Day for favorite duets highlighting love's journey with the universal language of music. Love will most certainly be in the air!

"connecting with Raison d'Être Opera after their inaugural concert, I knew I had "found my people".

Maintaining enthusiasm, perseverance, metamorphosis, and technical facility is difficult enough for artists of any age or genre, but for an aging opera singer, it verges on the impossible. But RDO's supportive and encouraging environment—the "Raison d'Être"—enabled me to find my voice again and to joyfully collaborate with wonderful artists of all ages, on Paulus' The Village Singer and other concerts and events. We are still here and have so much to share.

Join RDO as a performer or audience member and own the wisdom of your years!"
